Thanksgiving
‘I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way - with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge.’ 1 Corinthians 1:4-5 NIV

Grace and Peace

The St John’s Cathedral community farewelled Dean Peter Catt and Deacon Rev’d Dr Ann Solari on Sunday 27 September 2026, as they headed into retirement.

In ‘Poetry, Praise, and Pride,’ reprinted in Anglican Focus, Dean Peter offered this note of thanks to us:

‘Today I am incredibly grateful for the love and support that I have received during the past six weeks and for the incredible kindness of those who have taken the time in one form or another to be present or in touch as I complete my time at St John’s. Thank you.’

As the Cathedral filled with friends, the immense, inimitable contributions of both Dean Peter and Rev’d Dr Ann were celebrated, highlighting the sheer breadth of their 18 years of selfless service to the community.

As banners waved, heartfelt stories were shared, giftsgiven, and the sublime ‘Mother of God’ by Sir John Tavener was sung (here by VOCES8), all present knew that we would miss them dearly.

I encourage you to read the beautiful reflections on their service, such as:

To contribute your own, by emailing holyhermits@anglicanchurchsq.org.au, which I will pass on to them with love and thanks.
